I can’t believe it’s been a year since this grand adventure to beautiful Colorado. 🏞️ At the end of last summer, we got the chance to meet up with dear friends from Denmark @niels_reib and @hannewad while they were visiting more friends in Denver, @alwatts22 !

From exploring Garden of the Gods with @forrest_addison_roberts shortly after arriving, to our cozy little Airbnb (with a delicious nearby ramen joint) to finally getting to spend time with our international friends, grilling with new friends, exploring quaint eateries and swanky coffee shops, riding the Georgetown Railroad, to a spontaneous trek up the highest road in North America, Mountain Evans 🏔️ 🐐 🌈 ❄️ 🧊 ☀️ it was a trip full of adventures making lifetime memories! 🫶

What made it even more special was it took 8 years of long distance friendship to arrive at this moment where the stars aligned to meet up in person! ✨ Niels and I connected nearly a decade ago over digital marketing and entrepreneurship, and ever since built our friendship through monthly happy hours via Skype. 💻 🍷 Through all of the different life seasons we’ve experienced across that time including multiple moves, work changes, relationship changes, wins and losses - we’ve continued to stay connected and present in eachothers lives. The way he’s modeled consistency in friendship and from across the globe continues to amaze and inspire me to be that kind of friend, too. 🙏

To finally get to toast, laugh, hug, meet eachothers significant others, eat pizza and hang out IN PERSON after 8 years was the best!! ❤️ I’m forever grateful all got to share in such a grand adventure, will continue to cherish the memories along with our friendship, and look forward to the next one! 🗺️

“Bullied by religion” could be an alternate ti

“Bullied by religion” could be an alternate title to the book I’ve been laboring in love to write these past 2 years - longer, if you count the life-long journaling that’s aided my quest. 😅

It’s wild - the journey of breaking free from the shackles of a religious mindset. Sweet freedom sweeps in, opening your eyes and breaking you out of chains you didn’t even realize you’d been in for so long - some of us, born in to, so we’ve known no other way.

It can feel almost too good to be true at first, discovering that so much of what you’d thought was true, was upside down. And then as you discover Jesus’s gentler and fiercely loving and just ways, you realize his ways only looked upside down to those who couldn’t see right side up. 🙃

You discover so much of what kept you bound in fear, was merely smoke and mirrors produced by even more afraid others who hid behind their important sounding rules and for awhile, forced you in to submission to them as well.

You begin to rise up in the boldness that’s your birthright. You walk toward those who they’d said were off limits, for whatever socially unacceptable reason.
You drink the wine.
Dance all the dances.
Sing all the songs.
Hug the strangers.
Give them something to talk, and hopefully, think deeply about. Something that might cause them to reevaluate why they’re so offended, and confront what they’re really afraid of.
You gently nurture your too-long-terrorized heart.
You help mend the broken ones, even your own - just as He came to do, and is still in the process of doing to undo all the harm caused by the effects of man-made religion.

You become a holy revolution against all that bullied you in to believing the lies for too long.

And you never, ever, retreat back, but live from there on out as a testimony that Truth really does set you free, and anything that keeps you bound and afraid couldn’t be further from the truth.

You live as a light shining in the darkness. And you help others along the way, turn on their lights as you go. ☀️

The 4th of July was great, but the 5th + 6th were even better. Plans with friends fell through at the last minute, which landed us unexpectedly at our beloved @hideawaycabinar just the 3 of us for some sweet summer memories. 🌲☀️ 💦 🍩 🐕 ☕️ Love these two fellas (well, four, with our cabin fur neighbors, Smokey + Bandit dog 😆) and forever thankful for our little piece of peace in Hideaway. 🖤

(Continued from slides) “And that fact has absolutely nothing to do with your effort. It has everything to do with the fact that you have always, and will always, be precious to Him.

That’s the kind of revelation of His love that leads to a realization that will melt your heart, help you breathe a sigh of relief, and hunker down into the secure Love that holds onto you. That rest, trust, security? That’s what enables us to want to love and cling to Him, too, from a place of natural longing.

In the way we’re told in 1 John 4:19 that “we love because He first loved us”? It is like that exactly. We hold on to Him as a response to realizing and trusting that He’s already holding on to us.

Shouting from the bluff tops that the “creek”

Shouting from the bluff tops that the “creek” was beauuutiful, and, I love these friends!! 💛 This lil group has gone the distance time and again to show up with and for us, be it to support, celebrate, or just make more memories with us. Last week they went literal extra miles, 3+ hrs of roads and 9 miles of river to be exact, to make this first of a lifetime bucket list memory together - floating the beautiful Buffalo River! 💦 🦬 🛶 It’s something I’ve wanted to do for decades.

Someone asked me recently why I’d never been, and with grief I realized it was one of those things that got shelved in previous seasons, taking a back seat for one reason or another and never making it to the calendar when I was too often just surviving in the undertow of my former life.

I realized I’m still less than 3 years in to starting over / rebuilding my life! Getting remarried, buying a home, moving, acclimating to being a blended family, business venturing, cabin flipping, and otherwise getting settled into our still fairly new life has kept us occupied for a bit - but we finally got to put this on the calendar and freakin go already! 🥹🙌

It was a mix of grief and joy even as I took it all in, realizing how much I’ve missed not going before now. But joy eventually won out over the feeling of years lost, and the day we had felt like God redeeming time of things too long delayed. 💝

I felt like a kid, taking it all in with wide-eyed wonder, and never more grateful to have such faithful friends to create these memories with. The bluffs were towering, the greenery so lush, the water was crystal clear and also tealy blue. There were TONS of fish I did not expect to see 🐟 including perch, bass, catfish, trout, carp, and gar! 😱 I could’ve scooped them up with a butterfly net!!

We rowed. We floated. We spun. We laughed. We lunched. We jumped in and splashed around. We shared heart to hearts as we drifted downstream. It was a most glorious adventure with a few of our favs @itstimothyfisher @trena.corkern @dtuadkins 🫶 @forrest_addison_roberts 📸 🙏
